So afraid...

of missing out her devlopment milestones, she just grows up so quickly, seems only yesterday when she was a little little baby, refusing to finish drinking her milk, cry when time was not up for her milk and so on. And now she is 6 months, growing fine, and never failing to put a smile on to mummy and daddy's face. never failing to make her grand parents, yiyi and shushu love her.

How i wish I can be able to witness her growing up, to catch all of it and for it to always remain in my memory.

I want to reach for things... and put them all into my mouth

Ooops. got caught

She is now at the stage whereby she will reach out for any and everything, sweep them, pull them, put them into her mouth.. Really gotta keep an eye on her..

Who's behind me??

Bernice is a very curious little gal, to put it bluntly, kay poh, haha... She will always turn towards any sound that we are making, sound of door opening and so on. This is one taken when she was trying to turn and see what was going on behind her..

Wahhhhhh....

Yup, this was the reaction after we brought her back from waipo's house after leaving her for three days there while we went genting...

My reasoning: too long never see us

Daddy's reasoning: miss us lots so when see us release her feeling of sadness of not seeing us for so long.

I hope Daddy's reasoning is right, coz it will be quite sweet if she miss us, coz when i carried her, she did stop crying for one minute..

While coaxing her, was feeling kind of guilty that i left her here, well, will use sunday to accompany her to make up for lost time..

i know who you are...

Typed a whole lot of things but accidentally deleted... no mood to retype coz got to set papers... hrmph...

Anyway, a summary of this will be that bernice recognises us, and will cry when we are late in fetching her, other people carry her and so on..

Both happy and worried...
--happy that she actually misses us and that we actually mean somthing to her,
--worried that she may develope a serious separation anxiety and that it wun be possible to leave her without us coz mummy and daddy are in uniformed groups and it is inevitable that we have camps. anyway, we are sure bernice will be strong and grow out of it. just like how she grew out of her consistent "don't know crying for what" crying. she will grow to devolope her own personality and her own "pattern" slowly but surely..

On one hand, wish she grow up fast, but on the other, want her to always remain the adorable baby...

Bernice @ 4 months

time flies, has been 2 weeks since i started school, and realised that Bernice has been growing very fast, and the thought that I may miss some of her developments is very scary.... Every morning, we wake her up at 6am and we don't see her til 5, 6 pm... so far Saturdays have been used for CCA, for school awards day... not complaining that I am very busy coz i know that all my fellow guiders work as hard... :)

But I make it a point that once i see her at 5,6 pm, time is soley for her and no other businesses like school stuff or house work.. these come after her bed time at about 8pm

Anyway, her developments for this period of time
- able to raise her head and chest and support herself on her arms
- able to "talk" to mummy and daddy
- able to stand with her hands held and even move her leg for 2 to 3 steps

should still be some more, but these are the more significant ones..

And this most important one but not a milestone
--- she is now able to sleep on her sides and her back without being startled... but sometimes she still likes to sleep "buttock up" for security...

Alright photos..

Stomach upset

Bernice has been feeling unwell on Monday night, cried at 8 plus pm. Cried and vomitted at 3am. Woke up the next day and was cranky.

Conclusion: We rushed into feeding her with brown rice cereal.
Lesson learnt: Not to rush into things especially for her.

Guess i misunderstood what wai po said and instead of givin gher a spoonful of brown rice a day, i gave her at every meal time in her milk. Proved to be too much for her, she could not digest properly and had a stomach upset.

Fortunately, she felt better yesterday, eating normally and slept through the night without fussing about her tummy.

Must really be more conscious about how to take care of her.

Botak Bernice

Last Thursday, according to the Lunar calendar, she turned 4 months, so we decided to shave her head, (din want to in the beginning) hoping that her hair will be able to grow more. The amount of hair she has is so little that I think i can count the number of strands she has in a day, haha... Anyway, shall just cross my fingers and toes and hope that she does grow more hair, so that mummy will stop answering the people who ask mummy, is she a girl or boy? hee..

Couldn't stop laughing at her after she just shaved her head.. well, just look at the photos below...
From this to ...
this
pirate in the making??
Looking serious
Staring as if she has been bullied
keeps on turning to the side, maybe she is going to flip soon

Bernice's sleeping pattern/problem

Went Causeway point today, and she did not sleep while outside. (read more below to find out why) So this is what happened while she and daddy was waiting for me to finish dinner.... din except her to sleep coz was just carrying her, letting her look around while waiting.

Mummy, you eat ok, i can't take it already, i sleep a while ah.

I seldom say about Bernice's sleeping pattern so i shall talk about it here. Bernice sleeping was quite a problem to us though some tell me i should be glad that she sleeps at night. Well, i am glad definitely. But of course it can be better. Problems as below:

1) She doesn't sleep face up.
If she is able to fall asleep in this position, she will wake up before you count to 10, she will be scared of any surrounding noise and be startled and wake up. Hope her courage will increase in the future though. So how does she sleep? Bottoms up. I know all the disadvantages of this position, but really no choice. only way is in the night after she fall asleep soundly, then she will be able to sleep face up for 5 to 6 hours.
2) No other place of sleeping besides bed
Due to her unique sleeping position, she cant really fall asleep when we bring her out coz in the sling, she will wake up in less than an hour. Carrying her while she is sleeping is worse, any small action and her eyes will be wide open. Haven't try the pram, coz quite sure the movement of the pram will wake her up in her face up position. hahah, may resort to putting her bottoms up in the pram. will be a funny sight... hope not to resort to that

3) Grumpy when not enough sleep
Once she doesnt get enough sleep during the day, that's it... In the evening at about 7 pm, she will be crying fiercely non stop for 15 min to half an hour. Then she will fall asleep after that.

Seems a long list, but whatever it is, she is our beloved and we will cherish whatever she is.

Some pics while we were on the bus to causeway point.

I am so sleepy, so sleepy, so sleepy...

yes? mummy, you want to take photo ah...

like this pic, of coz will be better if she smile... but she seldom wants to smile when i whip out my camera... will only smile to people, smart? or too smart? heehee.. :-)

I can smile and cry ... at the same time

These 2 days, Bernice has been seen interacting more with people and she is able to coo and ah. And most heartwarming is, she is able to smile when she sees Daddy and Mummy. Yesterday she was upset and was crying coz she couldn't get a good sleep as there was a Malay wedding at the void deck of ah ma's house. So she was crying and ah ma was carrying her, when daddy and i tried to console her and smile at her, she actually decided to smile back and of course continued crying.
Wished I had taken photos of this but was busy trying to make her happy so did not do it.

Hand or pacifier? Or none : )

I believe most, if not all babies have the habit of putting their hands into their mouth. So does Bernice.

After popo and daddy debated for the longest time, Daddy relented and decided to let Bernice try pacifier and sarong coz of her long and "don't know why" cryings during the first month. And this queen decided not to have both and wanted to put her hands into her mouth rejecting the pacifier, not want to sleep in the sarong at popo's house. And at mummy's house, fidget in the sarong til about 5, 6am then will continue with her "buttocks up" position of sleeping which is not encouraged by doctors and old people. Hai, but what to do? this is the only position she can sleep soundly in. Put her face up, she will be startled and wake up before you count to 10. Put her to the side, same thing. So, hopefully, we can be able to change her sleeping position as she grows, when she will not be startled easily.

So, this is what yi yi did to her for putting her hands into her mouth... : )

Well, as what popo always say, we shall just follow her pattern and hope that she will grow out of whatever that is not encouraged..

Heads Up!

She could do this for a while yesterday, but she did it for a longer time today (but still not very steady) such that the whole family had enough time to whip out our cameras, hand phones, and snapped her. At first, with all the attention on her act, she was beaming with pride, joy and happiness. But when she got tired, she still wanted to 'show off', ended up tired, black faced and wanted to cry... : )
